Betina Macho, Chief Executive Officer

  

Born 1972.

Betina Macho is Chief Executive Officer of ViroGates. She assumed her role in September 2007.

Prior to joining ViroGates, she held the position of Head of Business Development for 7TM Pharma, Denmark. She started her career in the field of Life Sciences with the Wellcome Trust in London (1999) and moved to the position of Business Development Manager and subsequently Head of the Business Development Team at Boehringer Ingelheim Austria in 2003 before joining 7TM Pharma in 2005. 

Betina holds a M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the University of Vienna, Austria (1999), and a Ph.D in Biotechnology from the Institut de Génétique et de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire, Strasbourg (2003), where she identified a novel role for a new protein variant in germ cell regulation (Science, 2002). In addition she is also author or co-author of several other scientific publications.

 

Kim Teversham, Managing Director, ViroGates, South Africa


Born 1959.

Kim Teversham is Managing Director of ViroGates, South Africa since 2003.

In addition to his position as Managing Director of ViroGates’ activities in South Africa, Kim Teversham is also founder and Managing Director of Intellicare – a subsidiary of CareCross Health, which provides solutions for HIV disease management (2001- ). He started his career as a family physician in Cape Town (1993-99) and later held positions such as Medical Advisor at Medscheme Integrated Care (1999-2001) and Medical Director of Thebe Pharmaceuticals (1999- ).

Kim holds a Pharmacy degree from Rhodes University (1982) and an MD from the University of Cape Town (1992). 

 

Jesper Eugen-Olsen, Executive Director


Born 1963.

Jesper Eugen-Olsen is founder and Executive Director of the board since 2001. His research and invention led to the establishment of ViroGates

Jesper Eugen-Olsen is Chief Scientific Officer of ViroGates and Laboratory Research Director of the Clinical Research Centre, Copenhagen University Hospital, Hvidovre, Denmark (1998- ). Prior to his current position at Hvidovre Hospital, he served as Research Associate at the Department of Infectious Medicine (1995) and as Principal Investigator at the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology, Hvidovre Hospital (1997). 

He is a member of various scientific committees on e.g. XII and XIII International AIDS Conferences in Geneva and South Africa and the author and co-author of more than 50 scientific peer reviewed publications and holds 11 patents.
He holds a M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Genetics, University of Copenhagen (1994) and a PhD in HIV prognostics from the University of Copenhagen (2003).
